About
Georgiou photographed the 'Fault Lines/Turkey/East/West' series over a two year period from 2006-7. Based in Istanbul, he travelled back and forth from the west of Turkey to the east. As his photographs focus on scenes of everyday life, when asked in an interview if they were researched or if he came across them by chance, Georgiou replied.
"I stumbled across a lot places, but because I did it over this two year period, I returned to a lot of places too. There were particular places and cities that I would go back to again. But in terms of individual pictures, I did want to stumble across these scenes. So I think that if you do enough hours of travelling then something will appear. Such as the photograph of the man on a roof top, hosing, which may appear to be posed or staged initially."1
