About
This painting depicts designs associated with a group of women of the Napangati kinship subsection at Lake MacDonald. These women have been gathering the seeds from the Mungilypa shrub (Tecticornia verrucosa), a small fleshy plant which grows mainly near semi-saline lakes or claypans. These seeds are ground into a paste which is then cooked on the coals to form a type of unleavened bread.
