About
Gilbert Bayes writes about his commission for 'The Offerings of War' and 'The Offerings of Peace'. He hopes that photographs of the Elgin frieze is sufficient for the trustees 'as I am sure you will understand that a sculptor likes to be as free as possible to make slight alterations and modifications as the larger work progresses'. However, he agrees to make some adjustments to one of the works as he 'understands the position with a large board'.
