  • About

The firm of Richard & Co produced the commemorative photograph album entitled 'The International Exhibition 1879-1880', for the International Exhibition Commissioners. This was edited by John Plummer and bound by Boot and Long, Sydney. This was a landscape format album bound in half gilt morocco and containing thirty-six photographs. The folio documents the exterior and interior of the Sydney International Exhibition with half plate monochrome photographs and provides a detailed picture of its style and content. Each of the major courts including Britain, France, Belgium and Germany is represented as well as each of the colonies. Local raw materials and industry are showcased and overseas manufacturers are displaying their goods. Each photograph is glued to printed mounts with an explanatory description on the facing page.
This photograph did not appear in the album.
