Gilbert Bayes was commissioned to make two equestrian bronzes for the National Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1916, 'The Offerings of Peace' and 'The Offerings of War'. In this book he illustrates his large plaster cast of 'The Offerings of Peace', which was exhibited in the Summer exhibition of the Royal Academy in 1918, on a chapter about plaster casting.
