About
A hugely prolific printmaker, Tempesta specialized in lively scenes of battles and hunts. Though based in Rome, he kept in close contact with Florence, where the market for such scenes was especially strong. Tempesta was an important influence on the French etcher, Jacques Callot, with whom he had contact in Rome in the early 1600s.
