Five bells

Swim over to this watery painting.

The artist – John Olsen – made this painting based on a poem about Sydney Harbour. But instead of painting the harbour that we see with water, boats and buildings, Olsen created an abstract picture in blues and greens so we have to use our imagination.

Look at the different lines and shapes. Can you recognise any features of the harbour?

Imagine you are deep underwater. Write a poem about what you can see, the sounds you can hear and the feeling of the water around you.
