This exhibition of finalists from the Bookplate Design Award, established by the New Australian Bookplate Society, celebrates the award’s 10th anniversary. The bookplates on display were made by students studying art and design at Australian tertiary institutions.
Entrants were asked to submit up to four separate designs using any digital or traditional printmaking technique. Over 140 designs were received from 100 applicants, executed in a wide range of techniques, including digital illustration, linocut, typography, etching, monotype, mixed media and drawing.
The finalists were chosen for their success in capturing in their design some aspect of the bookplate’s owner, while incorporating the owner’s name in a way that marries with the design in form and style.
Note: The closing date for this exhibition has changed from 9 December to 26 November 2016. The Gallery apologises for any inconvenience.
