Embodiment
To 'embody’ is to articulate or give a material or evident form to (an idea, quality or emotion).
To embody the experiences of ancestors or history is to re-embody with all the sentiment and knowledge provoked by the initial event as well as the relevance of the present.
Embodiment draws on the complex dialogues of Indigenous and Australian history (and who authors it), restriction/liberation and gesture. The exhibition features works by Aboriginal artists Christian Thompson, Tony Albert, Vernon Ah Kee, r e a, Julie Gough and Darren Siwes.
