This portrait by Andrew Sibley of artist, critic and art historian Alan McCulloch (1907–1992) is now in the collection of Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Victoria, where McCulloch was inaugural director from 1970 to 1991, when it was named the Mornington Peninsula Art Centre.

In the Archibald Prize 1981 catalogue, ‘Alan’ was incorrectly spelled ‘Allan’ in the work’s title.
