Bill Leak Malcolm Turnbull

This portrait by Bill Leak of Malcolm Turnbull (born 1954) won the 1994 People’s Choice award. Turnbull had worked as a lawyer, journalist and merchant banker and, at this stage, was chair of the Australian Republican Movement. It was only later that he entered parliament, as a member of the Liberal Party, eventually serving as prime minister from 2015 to 2018.
