Sir John Sulman Prize 1949

The 1949 judges HI Ashworth and Arthur Murch awarded the Sulman Prize to Jack Carington Smith. According to Art Gallery of New South Wales records, they also recommended that ‘Mr Douglas Annand … be placed second … with favourable comment’. Annand submitted multiple works that year and a specific entry by him is not identified. Klaus Friederberger and Tony Tuckson were placed third for their collaborative work.
