Luke Barker Once upon a time (Glebe tram sheds)

oil on linen

This painting is a combination of old and new. Using a mixture of realism and impressionist techniques, I wanted to capture the age and historical value of the Sydney trams mixed with the vibrancy and youth of street art thereby connecting two eras, decades apart.

I feel by using my skills in fine art to portray scenes containing street art, I am able to document, in part, the evolution of street art as a globally recognised modern artform.
