Leslye Cole Belltrees Bridge, NSW

Belltrees Bridge, NSW is part of a body of work inspired by the beauty of the Australian landscape, the significance of the people so closely connected to it, and my fascination with the close relationships that humans can have with animals.

Driving down the road that winds alongside the meandering Upper Hunter River, I was faced with the magnificent scene of a stockman on horseback rounding the far barrier of a bridge ready to guide his herd across. I was struck by the tension as the large beasts moved nervously across the bridge, shying away from the sides, under the watchful eyes of the experienced cattleman and his dogs.
