David Disher God plays God
oil on canvas
91 x 135 cm
My dad died the other day. While watching such a momentous event, one tends to wonder a lot. I like to picture things and that is how I order the turmoil. I make things up for a living so why not create an absurd answer to soothe the chaos.
I muse that God has the original super computer. A colossus of its time, it now sits as an empty shell in the basement of Melbourne Museum – its value being what it taught us. With so much to do, God abandons us, takes his eye off the ball. I speculate that maybe God played Pong while Pol Pot played God.
With such darkness, one looks for consolation; the comfort of knowing that good men do live amongst us.
