Jeremy Kibel Portrait of Millie

mixed media on tarpaulin on linen

180.5 x 180.5 cm

This is a portrait that represents the loyalty and friendship of a pet, a living being that through the same assessing eyes has, for the past 10 years, possessed the ability to comfort, placate and just exist. Millie’s presence, as with any pet, is ephemeral and as a fleeting constant she has earned the right to be remembered. She could be thinking anything, but in her mind I place kind thoughts, simple thoughts. We’ve become friends because of an unspoken bond, through actions, conversations and measured gazes. Millie, a still life, is an appreciation.
