When I was 19, I had a violent nightmare where I watched humans running aimless and naked in a vast colosseum, as black, otherworldly birds swooped down from the heavens and tore into them. After the event, and the arena had emptied, a butterfly flew over the dead and landed on my nose. It opened its wings to show two parallel Milky Way galaxies spinning and it whispered telepathically: ‘This is not here’. While travelling on the Nile in 2010, I was visited by the same dream and I’ve chosen to represent this vanguard with the great river woven through its body hair.
