Gavin Brown Wargames

I became inspired to revisit printmaking after seeing several of my textile designs from the early 1980s displayed in the National Gallery of Victoria’s Mix tape exhibition of 2013. I have worked in linocut printing in the past and have amassed a catalogue of images and designs from which I have drawn in this series to create collaged works reassembled on the canvas. My approach for this work has been to take a low-tech method and reimagine this in the spirit of current digital printing aesthetics, resulting in images that are manipulated, split and reflected back upon themselves.
