Open source places some Buddhist ideas in the context of a broader sweep of imagery associated with mythology and genre in a number of different, but still connected, cultures. The four panels depict Red Tara, Green Tara, a mandala with the four directions, and blues singer Robert Johnson. They all have associated mythologies and something to teach. The dots, the quoted embroidery designs, the animé figures and the stamped and stencilled imagery are part of an ‘open source’ approach to the painting process.
