Arryn Snowball House of breath no 7
oil on linen
190 x 190 cm
This painting floats on the edge of abstraction, a play between movement and stillness, structure and fluidity. As a title, I like that the word ‘house’ draws out the painting’s intimacy and ‘breath’ brings it closer to the body. It’s not a painting of a home but perhaps it could operate in a similar way: a structure to house a gentle beauty, with its own sense of time and movement. Rather than insisting on meaning or metaphor, it could provide a space for empathy and a philosophy of vulnerable values. A place to hover between awareness of being and loss of being.
