Noel McKenna The writer's cats

This painting is not about any writer in particular, but when one looks over the work there are clues as to what kind of person they might be. The first thing I would deduce is maybe they play the piano and they have pet cats. The bookcase is full of novels, all by Australian authors: Patrick White, David Malouf, Eleanor Dark, Kate Grenville and Elizabeth Harrower, to name a few. The painting is a description of a scene in a home, the cats blending in, walking over the furniture as they do.
