Craig Loxley Exodus

Watching today’s news, there is a sense of history being repeated on a global scale as millions of people are displaced, forced to flee, live in tent cities and wait in limbo as they seek refugee status. We see these stories again and again on television, in the newspapers and on the internet. That is why I chose printmaking together with paint on constructed and found objects for my recent body of work, Exodus. Witnessing people in tents, trapped in an endless movement as they look for dignity, I felt the need to paint. I had to respond, I was affected.
