Karen Black Licking the rain

oil on canvas

152.5 x 122 cm

For the first time in 30 years, I am living alone. My flat in Sydney’s Kings Cross opens up to the internal void between four levels of apartments so I can hear everything like it is in my own living room. I have invented a cast of characters who play out an imaginary movie, and while I haven’t met these people I imagine what they look like as well as what is going on. I’ve taken notes of conversations and things called out in the night. The movie is called Licking the rain.
