Jun Chen North Queensland

oil on canvas

180 x 210 cm

I did this painting after a trip to Townsville, North Queensland last year. On the top of Castle Mountain you have a good view of the whole city and the Ross River. When I was on top of the mountain, there was a rain shower. The light was shining through the heavy cloud from quite a distance away. I captured this moment to express the mystery of the light. I used lots of grey and dark tones to create a strong contrast within the painting, and because black and grey are my favourite tones.
