Jun Chen Tropical forest II

oil on canvas

189 x 155 cm

North of Cairns is Kuranda, a rainforest I have visited twice. I like rainforests. The trees are flourishing there. I like to paint dark, using big marks to build up the painting. I also used lots of grey-green in this dark-hued work. The lighting is very important. I used backlighting as an effect to suggest the feeling of moisture in the air and to show the mysterious nature of the forest.
