Ross Laurie Long day blues – evening light

oil on canvas

137.5 x 305 cm

This picture began as a three-panel painting but after a few weeks I changed tack and reduced its scale.

I am concerned with finding ways of describing the world or the sensation of being in a certain place. This can vary from painting to painting; there is no consistent method. In this work, the composition of forms, tones and colours meet to convey the feeling of being in the landscape around my farm, south of Walcha on the New England Tableland in NSW.
