Ken Done Outback

oil and acrylic on linen

183 x 152.5 cm

Although most Australians cling to the edge of the country, the landscape of the outback, the Red Centre and Kakadu are firmly embraced by the Australian soul. This painting came from a recent camping trip in Kakadu. I was thrilled by the wonderful statuesque feel of the termite mounds and the scrubby landscape and grasses on which they stand. I hope this painting conveys something of that feeling and the heat of a hot summer’s day.
