Witjiti George is from the Fregon community in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands in South Australia. He is a senior traditional elder. His mother’s country is Piltati and his father’s country is Coffin Hill, south of Kaltjiti. He says of this painting:

‘This painting refers to the story of Piltati, a story about two brothers and two sisters. The two brothers, two water snakes, are at Piltati rock hole waiting for the two sisters. The two women had gone to find food. They were gone a long time and the men were hungry. They all live there in this rock hole. This is a love story.’
