My grandmother. She taught me to read music, play classical piano, put cream cheese on crackers and slowly sip champagne. I remember grandmother’s words before she looked away, leaning her chin in her hands and smiling to cover tears starting in her eyes. She said, ‘…I can’t play like I used to…’ referring to classical piano. My grandmother is not comfortable growing older and is confronted by the term ‘beauty’. Seeing this in her has helped me embrace the true beauty of life. Through my drawing, I wanted to show how truly beautiful she is. A true lady.
