Milla Venturini-Leach Jemimah

This portrait is of my friend and teammate Jemimah. Driven, disciplined and a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, she is also a warm, honest and generous person. It is these two sides of her personality that I have endeavoured to capture in my portrait. The reference photo was taken after a tough weekend of state championship try-outs and her vulnerability in a moment of self-reflection documents her feminine tranquillity, which is inseparable from her strength and courage. She steadies herself by taking a dip in the pool, with her mind still on the court, elsewhere.
