Hannah Lewis Closed doors: medicating the monster of chaos
The world’s chaos is overwhelming. Our indirect attempts to handle this chaos only propagate a cycle grounded in the rhetoric of hopelessness. Distractions like phones act as a form of self-medication which only temporarily diverts our overloaded psyche, closing doors as flimsy defence against the monster, the chaos of the world, which opens them from the other side. My body of work is a representation of this recurring movement between realisation and self-medication, the montage sequence expressing the feeling of overwhelm. Through the guise of satire it examines my own self-medication, my door which withholds the monster of chaos.
