  • About

Janet Cumbrae Stewart was a notable and highly collected pastellist active in the early 20th century. Trained in Melbourne, she exhibited widely in Australia before moving to Europe where she remained for 17 years exhibiting at the Royal Academy, Old Salon in Paris and the Galérie Beaux-Arts. WW2 forced her return to Melbourne, where she remained with her partner Miss ‘Bill’ Bellairs, until her death in 1960.
