About
Art centre documentation for this work states:
“My outstation is Tnauwurta Outstation east of Hermannsburg about 5 miles. I grew up there with my Mum, Dad, Grandfather, Aunties, Uncles, brothers, sisters and cousins. We were all together on that outstation, all the family. On the weekend my best friend Vera always come to stay with me. On this pot, she is 9 years old and I'm 8 years old. Me and my best friend and my sister and cousins would always go walking in those hills there looking for arlparrantji (wild tomato), tjurrka (wild fig) and other bush tucker. We pick em up and take em back for my Grandfathers. Every Thursday that canteen truck would go to the outstation with tucker on my Grandfather's pension day (flour, tea, sugar, milk, tin of meat, ice-cream, cool drink - everything!). He would use his pension to buy food for all of us from that truck, he would always buy a carton of fanta for the grandchildren. That truck would go to every outstation from east to west. Kala, that's my story about my outstation.”
