About
American artist Paul Pfeiffer works across the mediums of film, video, photography and sculpture and is well known for his digitally manipulated found footage of sporting events, concerts or Hollywood films, often presented on tiny monitors.
'Sunset flash' is a 16mm film that is shown on a looping projector. The whirr of the projector and its elaborate, sculptural form are important qualities of the artwork. The film takes the form of a ‘home movie’ and documents the artist’s extended family posing for a group portrait. A skyline of bobbing heads is just visible, silhouetted against the sky as family members come and go until just one remains.
