These three photo etchings are stills from Flanagan’s 1969 film ‘Hole in the sea’, made for Gerry Schum’s television exhibition ‘Land art’. Filmed on the beach at Scheveningen, The Netherlands, Flanagan buried a hollow plastic cylinder in the sand during a rising tide filming the mysterious hole that appeared before the waves finally engulfed the cylinder.
