This piece is one of the relatively rare surviving examples of the Ottweiler factory. The paste at this date already shows a tendency to greyness. Other items from the same tea and coffee service (teapot, slop basin and sugar bowl) were on the Paris art market in 2001, while others with closely comparable decoration are in the Saarland Museum, Saarbrücken.
