Harry Wann Miss Spicer

Image of repainted work courtesy the artist's estate

Harry Wann repainted parts of this portrait after the work was hung in the Archibald Prize 1935. It is thought that the sitter, Miss Spicer, may have been a model. Her first name may have been Iris, as that is the title of her portrait when it was exhibited in the Royal Art Society’s annual exhibition. Another portrait titled Miss Spicer was exhibited by Tom Hubble in the 1936 Archibald.
