This portrait by Norman Carter of James Douglas Stewart (1869–1955) is now in the University Art Collection in the Chau Chak Wing Museum at The University of Sydney. Stewart was the first professor of veterinary science at the university.

The painting is one of 58 works by Carter shown in the Archibald between 1921 and 1953.
