This portrait by Newton Hedstrom depicts Australian trade unionist and communist activist James ‘Big Jim’ Healy (1898–1961). Healy served as General Secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Federation of Australia from 1937 to his death in 1961.
The work is now in the collection of the Maritime Union of Australia.
