Zhong Chen Kung fu

My painting Kung fu reflects my cultural identity as a Chinese-Australian artist and comes from a series. The painting is influenced by traditional Chinese folk-art prints, paper cuts and traditional Chinese ink-brush painting. As I was growing up in China, kung-fu was very much an influence and I would practise it every day. It was also a cultural influence as I was immersed in watching many Hong Kong kung-fu movies. These movies were my cultural escape from real life. This work comes from a series of kung-fu paintings that explore my trans-cultural identity.
