Joyce Wang Motherhood

My mother is the model for this portrait. I focused on the balance between light and colour, and the model’s pose. I used warm colours to show both my mother’s kindness and the relaxed atmosphere. I chose a high angle, showing my mother looking up, which softens her appearance. Neither her body nor her eyes face the viewer; it seems she is listening to someone patiently, as though children stand before her. Through this painting, I want to show motherhood, especially my mother’s tenderness and love.
