About
Pam Hallandal studied sculpture in Melbourne and London in the 1950s and was to become an influential teacher and respected draughtswoman for more than fifty years.
Since the 1950s, Hallandal has used printmaking as a part of her process in resolving a body of work. She taught herself printmaking from books and looking at prints by other artists, transferring her skills at carving sculpture into making relief prints. Her subjects reflect her broader interest in the human figure, using it as a vehicle for imaginative, and empathetic, experience.
