Joy
A celebration of the joy of making and sharing culture and life together
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art can very easily slip into seriousness. Although it is important to tell the stories of history and people that are uncomfortable, in need of critical dialogue or deeply embedded in culture and its practices, it is also important to celebrate joy. The joy of culture and the histories that inform those moments are significant but we often forget to make space for them to resonate.
With objects and short films from across the Central Desert, this exhibition is a celebration of the joy of making and sharing culture and life together.
