Sydney Modern Project competition exhibition
View of the Sydney Modern Project competition exhibition
In September 2014, the Art Gallery of NSW announced a national and international design competition to select an architect to produce a concept design for the Gallery’s expansion, the Sydney Modern Project.
Twelve renowned Australian and international architectural practices were invited to submit concepts to create an architecturally ambitious, intelligent, sensitive, sustainable and highly functional design.
This exhibition presents material submitted during stage 1 and 2 of the competition, which resulted in Japanese architects SANAA being unanimously selected as the architect for the Sydney Modern Project.
